First thing, to create a table, in the Page Editor, click Table. This will open a dialog which will allow you to create table, you can specify the number of rows and columns along with a table type and color scheme. From experience, it ussually best to stay away from the table types and colors schemes, and just go with the generic table type. If you create a table other than generic, you will be offered several colors schemes that match the color scheme for your site. The only problem with this is these colors can be reproduced and are not available from the color selector.
After you created the table delete all contents out, this is to help formatting issues. This is also another good reason to use tables. Tables help to contain formating issues, formating problems will be contained to just 1 cell. Tables are helpful for aligning or creating advanced layouts for content. To merge a row or column, right click on the first row or column you wish to merge. A dialog box will appear allowing you to enter who many columns or rows you wish to merge. For example if you have a 5 row, 5 column tables and you wish to merge the top column into 1, right click on the top leftmost cell, right click in the cell and select merge columns, enter 5 an d click Ok. This will merge the entire top row into 1 column. If you need more columns, right click the table and select insert row or column. The row will inserted above the row you right click in and for the the column; it will created to the left of the column your right click in. For deleting a column or row, just right click in the column or row and click delete column or row. There are 2 ways you can change the width and height of a table. First, select the table, this can be done by selecting the outside border. Once selected, you should see little squares appear in the middle or each and and on all four corners, just drag to resize. Second way is to right click on the table and click properties, from the dialog box that appears enter the height and width you want the table to be. |
