How to Overwrite a Page

If your home page (default.aspx) or any other page for that matter has been damaged use the solution below to overwrite the page.

 

Reasons to overwrite include:

  • Error Messages about problem processing pagename.aspx
  • The designer locks up while trying edit that page.
  • Editing functions don't work, ussually caused be recently inserted code, if possible try removing that code, otherwise you will have to overwrite.

 

1.  Click New Page either in the Page Manager or the Site Designer.

 

 

 

2.  Use the General template (this helps with formating issues).

 

 

3.  Fill out the required information: Page Title, Address (address of the damaged page, in this example default.aspx), Check the Overwrite box, and the Navigation information.
