Office Live Search Engine Optimization or SEO

1. Domain Name: Try to pick a domain that will have a keyw ord in it. Example: http://office-live-tips.com. Also have a keyword in the page url. Example: http://domain.com/search_engine_optimization.htm

  

2. Keywords: Add a Descriptive Title, Meta Keywords, and Meta Description. Example: If you have Office Live Tips as a keyword be sure to include it in the the Title and Description. You don't want to do this for every keyword, just 2 or 3 of your main keywords. Make sure you do not spam your keywords! Many search engines now days to not pay as close of attention to the keywords as they use to. It is also better to be specific with your keywords, your not likely to win out if you choose a general keyword. Click Here if you need help on where to enter your title and meta tags.

  

3. Content: The content (text, images) of your web page is probably the most important. So, make sure the content is keyword rich. For example: if you have Office Live Tips as one of your meta keywords make sure you use it in your content at least 3 times, also have keywords in picture name's as well: office_live_tips.jpg

 

4. Getting Indexed: Make sure you site is listed under the major search engines: Google, Yahoo, Live, along with DMOZ.  Site submission, Click Here to Submit your Site.
  

5. Linking: The big thing now days is to exchange links, but unfortunately many search engines have gotten wise to the link exchange. What you want is as many 1 way links from 5+ Google Page Ranked sites as possible. Also if you have blog, post in forums, or answer question make sure to include a link to your site, just don't spam! If you do exchange links, exchange links with similar sites.

 

6. Update: Keep your content up-to-date and fresh.
  

7. Sitemap: Having a sitemap helps search engines find pages it might have missed.
